Welcome to the Neighborhood
This week, heading out for an early morning jog, I was surprised to find several helicopters swirling over my apartment building and the street lined with news vans and cop cars. Only when I returned from my run and turned on NECN did I discover that a cabbie had been bludgeoned to death and left in his taxi less than one block from my apartment. I would have much preferred a fruit basket to a gruesome media circus as a house-warming gesture. Yikes. I remember, last year, my mother gleefully calling me at my house in Newton to say she just heard on NPR that I was living in the safest town in America. Me thinks I won’t be getting such a call about my new digs in Brighton.
